Join us for two complimentary classes!
Try tai chi for yourself and find out how it can benefit your life.
Class Schedule
We run two classes each week, on Monday and Friday mornings.
Day | Time |
Monday | 9:30 -11:00 am* |
Friday | 9:30 -11:00 am* |
*Beginner practice sessions begin at 8:30 am
Weather Cancellations
The Seniors Centre closes when school buses are cancelled due to weather. In these cases, our class is cancelled as well.

Beginner Practice Sessions
We know that starting something new can be intimidating. But don’t worry!
We provide extra time for beginners to learn the basics and get comfortable with tai chi in a smaller, more intimate setting. These extra practice sessions begin at 8:30 am, before each class. Learners are then encouraged to stay for the regular class.
Experienced students looking to brush up on their fundamentals are also welcome to join these sessions anytime.
What to Expect in Your First Class
Welcome!
When you arrive at the Seniors Centre, use the back entrance and head downstairs to change into your indoor shoes.
You’ll notice that our classes are informal but with a structure and focus to help you learn and get the most benefit from your practice. We hope that you will let us know about your (dis)abilities in order for us to better help you.
Warm-up
We begin with a warm-up to loosen our muscles and joints, focusing on posture and balance.
The 17
Next, we practise the first 17 moves to promote and enhance the flow of the set. In the beginner class, you will learn individual movements, so you will be able to recognize and follow the group during the set.
The 108
After a break for water (and some social time!), we practise the full 108-move set. Individual moves are taught and redefined as needed.
Variety of Learning
Different topics are discussed during class. This could include the history of tai chi, the benefits of the exercise, practising at home, meditation, etc. We also invite speakers who practise different modalities to provide a more global aspect and understanding of tai chi.
